Sri Lanka, Aug. 27 -- The University Grants Commission (UGC) announced that 42,172 students have secured admission to State universities for the 2024/2025 academic year, based on the results of the 2024 Advanced Level Examination.
The UGC released the university cut-off marks for the next intake on the night of August 25. According to official figures, 285,289 students sat for the 2024 A/L examination. Of them, 177,920 students qualified for university admission.
Out of these, 90,670 students submitted applications seeking entry into the university system. The final selection of 42,172 students reflects the available capacity across Sri Lanka's 17 national universities and other degree-awarding institutes administered by the UGC.
