Sri Lanka, Sept. 10 -- Kalutara Acting Magistrate Bandula Weerasinghe ordered an individual who had allegedly stolen 106 gemstones worth approximately Rs. 30 million from a 26-year-old Chinese national who had come to the country to conduct business in gems, and the person who allegedly kept them for sale, to be remanded until September 12.

The two remanded were Muthumuni Chathuranga Silva alias Singithi (41), a fisherman from Hettimulla, Beruwala, who is accused of theft, and Mohammed Kamaldeen Mohammed Kamil, a gem businessman from Mahagoda, Beruwala, who is accused of keeping the stolen items.
