Transport and Highways Deputy Minister Dr. Prasanna Gunasena told Parliament yesterday that SriLankan Airlines carried nearly 21.1 percent of the tourists visiting Sri Lanka, this year playing a significant role in the country's tourism sector.
As a result of these initiatives,, the airline has recorded a 10 percent increase in passenger revenue, and a 10 percent growth in capacity.
This year, 1.6 million tourists have arrived in Sri Lanka as of September 21. This is a 20 percent increase compared to the same period last year. So far, tourism revenue of US $2.3 billion has been received.
