Sri Lanka, Sept. 27 -- IRANGIKA RANGE and VARUNA DAYARATNE Transport and Highways Deputy Minister Dr. Prasanna Gunasena told Parliament yesterday that SriLankan Airlines carried nearly 21.1 percent of the tourists visiting Sri Lanka, this year playing a significant role in the country's tourism sector.

As a result of these initiatives,, the airline has recorded a 10 percent increase in passenger revenue, and a 10 percent growth in capacity.

This year, 1.6 million tourists have arrived in Sri Lanka as of September 21. This is a 20 percent increase compared to the same period last year. So far, tourism revenue of US $2.3 billion has been received.
