Sri Lanka, April 4 -- The Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association (SLGGA), the country's largest female-led volunteer organisation for girls and young women, recently celebrated 107 years of proud service to the nation.

Guiding was introduced to Sri Lanka in 1917 by Miss Jennie Calverley, a young teacher from England who joined the staff of Girls' High school Kandy, where the first Guide Company was formed. The Jennie Calverley Green Oration is held to honour and celebrate this visionary personality. Prof. Arosha Adikaram of the Department of Human Resource Management, Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo, delivered the 3rd Jennie Calverley Green Oration ont this occasion.
