SLC should develop cricket in rural areas, says former Rajans skipper Ranasinghe
Sri Lanka, July 14 -- Siri Ranasinghe, former Cricket Captain of Dharmaraja College,Kandy said that Sri Lanka Cricket had a concept to start 'Gamata Cricket' which was not happening practically and the relevant authorities should strive to develop cricket in the rural areas as there is an abundance of talent in the outstations
Siri Ranasinghe captained Dharmaraja College Cricket team in the year 1967 and his team mates were D.D.P.Alwis(Vice Captain) Nimal Yatigammana, Gamini Jayasundera to name a few. D.D.P. Alwis went on to play for Adastrians, while Nimal Yatigammana captained Dharmaraja Cricket team and scored a century in the 'Big Match' in later years.
