Sri Lanka, March 1 -- Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala announced yesterday that a separate salary structure will be introduced for the Police Department.
He emphasized that the police service has been freed from political influence and now functions as an independent institution. He also assured that no police officer's salary has been reduced.
The minister stated that several structural changes are being implemented within the police service, ensuring that all investigations, which were not conducted formally by previous governments, will now be carried out properly.
