Sri Lanka, Jan. 23 -- The Cabinet has approved a comprehensive resettlement programme for unauthorised residents living in the Kelani Valley Railway Reserve, from Maligawatte Loco Junction to Padukka railway station, as part of the Colombo Suburban Railway Project.
The programme, initially approved on August 5, 2024, has already provided 694 housing units from Urban Development Authority (UDA) housing complexes to the affected families. An additional 144 housing units are expected to be received from the UDA to further support the resettlement effort.
