Sri Lanka, Sept. 10 -- The Presidents' Entitlements (Repeal) Bill will be taken up for its second reading and debate in Parliament today (10).
It has been decided at the Committee on Parliamentary Affairs held yesterday (9) under the chairmanship of Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne to debate the Presidents' Entitlements (Repeal) Bill today from 11.30 am to 3.30 pm (Second Reading).
The Speaker announced earlier yesterday in Parliament that the Supreme Court has determined that no provision of the Presidents' Entitlements (Repeal) Bill is inconsistent with the Constitution.The Speaker further said that therefore, the Supreme Court has stated that the Presidents' Entitlements (Repeal) Bill can be enacted with a simple majority of Parliame...
