Sri Lanka, Dec. 12 -- Nuwara Eliya District Secretary Thushari Tennakoon stated that an earth mound has collapsed on the main road from the Katukithula area on the Gampola-Nuwara Eliya main road, which was opened to traffic.

Therefore, due to the current weather conditions, there is a risk of further earth mounds collapsing on the roads, so vehicles should not ply on any road entering Nuwara Eliya at night.

Tennakoon also stated that all the affected people in the Nuwara Eliya district have been provided with necessary facilities, including food items, and that there is no truth in certain statements made by the government with the aim of embarrassing certain affected and non-affected people.
