Sri Lanka, Dec. 12 -- The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has extended landslide evacuation red notices for 33 Divisional Secretariat Divisions across four districts due to ongoing extreme weather conditions, officials confirmed.

Dr. Wasantha Senadheera, Senior Geologist at NBRO, said the notices were extended after rainfall in parts of Badulla and Kandy districts exceeded 75 mm over the past few days. He also reported recent landslides in Meegahakivula and Demodara, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

The NBRO has received 2,716 requests to inspect potentially dangerous locations between November 20 and December 12, of which 589 inspections have been completed.
