Sri Lanka, June 23 -- Harshana Suriyapperuma has officially assumed duties as the new Secretary to the Ministry of Finance, following the retirement of former Secretary Mahinda Siriwardana.

Suriyapperuma, a former National List MP representing the National People's Power (NPP), also served previously as Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning.

He resigned from Parliament on June 20, 2025, in preparation for his new administrative role.

His appointment marks a transition from political office to public administration, as he takes on a key position within the Ministry of Finance, succeeding Siriwardana upon his retirement.
