Sri Lanka, July 19 -- Ports and Civil Aviation Deputy Minister Janith Ruwan Kodithuwakku yesterday said arrangements will be made to issue temporary driving licences to foreigners arriving at the Bandaranaike International Airport soon.

Kodithuwakku said that a counter will be opened at the BIA soon and necessary approvals for the implementation of this project have already been received.

He said that the Ministry took this decision after it was noted that foreigners are currently required to visit the Motor Vehicles Department office in Werahera to acquire temporary driving licences, which results in a waste of their time and money.
