Sri Lanka, Dec. 12 -- Cyclone Ditwah has caused widespread devastation across Sri Lanka, impacting lives, property, and communities.

According to the latest report from the Disaster Management Center, 495,189 families and 1,703,616 individuals have been affected by the disaster.

The cyclone has claimed 639 lives, with 211 people reported missing. The highest number of fatalities, 234, was reported in the Kandy area.

In terms of property damage, 5,588 houses were completely destroyed, while 102,246 houses sustained partial damage.

Currently, 26,563 families comprising 84,674 individuals are living in 866 shelters due to the ongoing disaster situation.
