Sri Lanka, Nov. 24 -- The Minister of Transport, Bimal Rathnayake, announced in Parliament today (24) that it will be mandatory to install CCTV cameras in all school vans to ensure the safety of children.
The initiative aims to strengthen road safety and provide parents with the ability to monitor their children during travel. The Minister emphasized that bystanders should take responsibility and intervene if children or women face harassment on the roads, highlighting the need for collective responsibility and solidarity.
