SriLanka, Dec. 13 -- Disaster Management Centre Director General Major General (Retd.) Sampath Kotuwegoda, stated that the Armed Forces, Police, Civil Security Department, and all other stakeholders are prepared to face the effects of the active Northeast Monsoon.

Speaking at a special media briefing held at the Government Information Department yesterday, Major General Kotuwegoda said that, according to the Meteorology Department, the Northern Province is expected to receive above-normal rainfall. The North Central, Eastern, Central, and Uva provinces are forecast to experience near-normal rainfall, while the Western and Southern provinces may receive below-normal rainfall with thunderstorms.
