Srilanka, July 12 -- The White House has nominated Eric Meyer, a seasoned American diplomat from California, to serve as the next U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

President Donald Trump has officially submitted Meyer's nomination to the United States Senate for confirmation.

A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Meyer currently serves as the Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs.
