Sri Lanka, June 20 -- Six passengers attempting to smuggle a stock of foreign-made cigarettes valued at Rs. 12.6 million were arrested this morning by Customs officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
The suspects, comprising four male passengers and two female passengers including a female foreign national were apprehended while trying to take the contraband through the airport's Green Channel.
According to Customs, the passengers had arrived from Dubai, Sharjah, and Bangkok. They were found carrying 420 cartons containing 84,000 foreign-made "Manchester" brand cigarettes concealed in their luggage.
