Colombo, March 13 -- The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) announced today that no changes have been made to the maximum retail prices of raw rice.

They said that reports have emerged of some rice mill owners and wholesalers attempting to sell rice at higher prices by misleading retailers into believing that the CAA's regulated prices have changed. As a result, retailers have frequently inquired whether the price controls on rice have been removed.

However, the maximum retail price for raw rice remains unchanged, as published in the official gazette notification.

The current maximum retail prices are as follows:

Raw red rice - Rs. 220 per kg Nadu rice - Rs. 230 per kg Samba rice - Rs. 240 per kg Keeri Samba rice - Rs. 260 per kg
