Sri Lanka, Jan. 13 -- A group of three suspects who had been arrested by Ethimale Police and produced before Siyambalanduwa Magistrate Dinushka Rosan Anuruddha Samaraweera for causing damage to an archaeological site and destroying nine ancient rock pillars were fined Rs. 200,000 when they pleaded guilty to the charges.
One of the suspects was a Land Officer of Ethimale Plantation Company, and other employees of the company.
They had caused damage to Moramale Rajapokuma Archaeological site and destroyed the stone pillars with a backhoe.
