Sri Lanka, July 14 -- The Colombo High Court has ordered the release of former Minister Duminda Dissanayake on bail in connection with a case in which he was arrested and remanded for the alleged possession of a gold-plated firearm.

Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Thilakaratne granted bail to the accused, setting a cash bail of Rs. 250,000 and two sureties of Rs. 5 million each, after considering a bail application filed by Dissanayake.

The court also imposed a travel ban on the accused.

In addition, the judge ordered that the two sureties must be residents of the Colombo District.
