Colombo, April 23 -- Following the clash between two groups of inmates at the Matara Prison, all inmates of the Matara Prison are currently being transferred to the Angunakolapelessa prisons, the Prisons Department spokesman said.

The situation that arose last night was brought under control soon after it was reported to the Matara Division Police. A spokesperson requested the relatives of the Matara prison inmates not to panic, assuring that no injuries had been sustained by any of the inmates.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, according to the Prisons Department.
