Dhaka, April 25 -- A mother has been accused of killing her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter by slashing her throat in Satkhira's Kalaroa.

Her family claims the woman, Tania Khatun alias Asma, 30, has been mentally ill for a year.

The incident took place around 12:30pm on Friday at the child's maternal grandfather's house in Batra village, said Kalaroa Police Station chief Asaduzzaman.

The deceased child, Khadija Khatun, lived with Tania in the Batra Milpara area of the Upazila, police said.
