Dhaka, Oct. 5 -- With the end of Bengali month Ashwin approaching, monsoon rains continue to remain active across Bangladesh. Due to a depression over the Bay of Bengal, widespread rainfall has been occurring throughout the country since Wednesday, and heavy to very heavy rain is now forecast for five divisions, including Dhaka.
On Thursday, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department issued a special alert, signed by Meteorologist Hafizur Rahman, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall across various areas in Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions within the next 24 hours, starting from 9am on Saturday.
There is also a risk of landslides in the hilly areas of Chattogram Division due to heavy rainfall.
