Dhaka, May 28 -- Two people, including a 1971 Liberation War veteran, have been killed and four others injured in a knife attack in Mymensingh's Bhaluka Upazila.

The incident occurred around 5pm on Tuesday in Pachgaon village, confirmed Bhaluka Model Police Station chief Humayun Kabir.

The dead have been identified as Hafeza Akhter, 52, and 70-year-old Freedom Fighter Gazi Ashraf Ali Ashu.

The injured are Abdus Samad, 30, Sakim, 35, Freedom Fighter Ali Shikder, 75, and Jebunnesa, 50. Two of them have been taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

Following the incident, police detained a man, identified with a single name as Saidul, 40.
