Dhaka, June 9 -- Former president Abdul Hamid has returned to Bangladesh from Thailand following medical treatment.
He arrived at Shahjalal International Airport on Thai Airways flight TG-399, which landed at 1:25am, airport Executive Director SM Ragib Samad confirmed to bdnews24.com.
Hamid was accompanied by his brother-in-law Naushad Khan and his son Riad Ahmed. Dressed in a lungi and shawl, the former president was brought off the aircraft in a wheelchair.
Hamid had flown to Bangkok on May 8 for treatment, a trip that triggered public debate after the government claimed it was unaware of his departure. In response, Home Affairs Advisor Jahangir Alam warned that anyone found negligent would face consequences.
