Dhaka, April 24 -- The Bangladesh embassy in Tokyo has officially launched an e-passport service for expatriates in Japan.

Chief Advisor's Principal Secretary M Siraz Uddin Miah inaugurated the service on Thursday at the embassy's hall room, according to a media statement.

While delivering the keynote speech, Siraz said: "With the introduction of e-passports, travel and migration from Japan will become much more convenient."

Highlighting the interim government's continued efforts for the welfare of expatriates, he said: "For years, expatriates have faced delays in receiving passports. That issue has now been resolved.

"Expatriates are now receiving their passports within a much shorter time."
