Dhaka, June 10 -- Three friends riding a motorcycle have been killed when a bus ploughed into their two-wheeler as they were heading back to Shibpur after buying sports equipment from Narsingdi town.

The accident occurred around 11pm on Monday near the Bandaradia Petrol Pump on the Itakhola-Shibpur regional road in Shibpur Upazila, according to Hosne Ara Begum, the duty officer at the local police station.

Two of the victims were identified by their first names as Ashiq, 22, and Opu, 20, while the third was Saiful Islam, 22. All three were residents of Mirzakandi village in Shibpur.
