New Delhi, Jan. 12 -- Directing urgent executive and judicial intervention, the Delhi High Court on Monday ordered the registration of a suo motu Public Interest Litigation (PIL) over the "pitiable conditions" faced by patients, attendants, and their relatives, who are forced to brave the cold outside hospitals due to a lack of adequate night shelter facilities.
A Division Bench comprising Justice C. Hari Shankar and Justice Om Prakash Shukla passed the directions after taking note of a news report published on January 11, 2026, titled "Night shelters packed, patients, kin brave the cold outside hospitals."
