India, June 11 -- As Chief Adviser of the interim government of Bangladesh, Muhammad Yunus, announced that national elections will be held in April 2026, strong criticism has emerged from student political groups affiliated with the now-banned Bangladesh Awami League.

Saddam Hussain, President of the Bangladesh Students League, the student wing of the Awami League, called the announcement a "state-sponsored drama" and accused the current government of lacking legitimacy and control.
