Chennai, Oct. 11 -- DMK leader Kanimozhi Karunanidhi on Saturday said that Chief Minister MK Stalin is empowering women in the state through several women-centric schemes.

Kanimozhi, a Lok Sabha MP from Thoothukkudi, participated in the "Thaiyal Nayagi - We Mature, She Blooms" programme on Saturday, in Chennai.

Addressing a gathering here, Kanimozhi said, "It is impossible to say today that there is any village in Tamil Nadu where women are not educated. The Chief Minister has transformed the marriage assistance scheme so that no one's dreams, whether a man's or a woman's, are hindered."

Highlighting the government's initiatives, Kanimozhi said self-help groups were created to ensure that women could stand on their own feet.
