New Delhi, Oct. 16 -- Congress leader Shama Mohamed on Thursday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over United States President Donald Trump's recent remarks regarding Russian oil, alleging that the Prime Minister has "surrendered" to US pressure and undermined India's sovereignty.

Her comments come a day after US President Trump claimed that Prime Minister Modi had assured him that India would cease purchasing oil from Russia, a move that Trump described as a significant step in global efforts to isolate Moscow.
