Venice, Sept. 7 -- Debutant filmmaker Anuparna Roy has scripted history by winning the Orizzonti Award for Best Director at the prestigious 82nd Venice Film Festival for her feature film 'Songs of Forgotten Trees'.
The movie was presented by Anurag Kashyap.
'Songs of Forgotten Trees', the only Indian film selected in the Orizzonti section of the Venice Film Festival this year and winner, saw the emotional and teary-eyed director Anuparna Roy accepting the award on Saturday.
Starring Naaz Shaikh and Sumi Baghel, 'Songs of Forgotten Trees' is produced by Bibhanshu Rai, Romil Modi and Ranjan Singh and follows the story of two women and how their lives get intertwined in Mumbai.
