New Delhi, Feb. 25 -- Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday extended greetings to the people on the eve of Maha Shivratri, describing Lord Shiva as the symbol of "meditation and renunciation."

In his message, Birla said that Lord Shiva is both the origin and the eternity, a complete consciousness with no beginning or end.

"He is the Adiyogi and a symbol of meditation and renunciation," the Lok Sabha Speaker said.

Extending his wishes, Om Birla further said, "On the auspicious occasion of the grand festival of Lord Shiva, 'Maha Shivratri', I bow to Mahadev and convey my best wishes to all. May Lord Shiva bless the world with prosperity. With the grace of Bholenath, may everyone's life be filled with happiness, peace, and prosperity."
