New Delhi, Oct. 6 -- Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressed deep sorrow after six people died in a fire at the ICU of the trauma centre at Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur on Sunday night.

He called the incident "heart-wrenching" and extended his condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the fire.

In a post on X on Monday, Om Birla wrote, "The fire at the trauma centre of Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur, resulting in the death of several patients, is heart-wrenching."

"I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. May God grant peace to the departed souls and strength to the grieving families. Prayers for the swift recovery of the injured," the post stated.
