Lucknow, April 15 -- Bharatiya Janata Party MP Jagdambika Pal on Tuesday alleged that the ongoing violence in West Bengal is happening under the protection of the Mamata Banerjee-led state government and called for the imposition of President's Rule of law and order is not restored.

"The way the violence is increasing in West Bengal shows that all this is happening under the protection of Mamata government... The police are doing nothing," Pal told reporters.

He claimed that the violence appears to be organised and state-sponsored.

"This seems to be state-sponsored violence... Who will protect the people when the government has become the one who is promoting violence?" he said.
