Jakarta, Aug. 14 -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has tasked Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) with overseeing the continuation of plans for a high-speed railway linking Jakarta and Surabaya, East Java.

In general, the plan aims to extend the existing route, which currently runs only as far as Bandung, West Java.

"Mr. President has assigned us at the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development to help monitor the extension of the fast train system, from connecting Jakarta only with Bandung to reach Surabaya," AHY remarked at his office in Jakarta on Wednesday (August 13).
