Jakarta, July 17 -- Hundreds of app-based motorcycle taxi ( ojol ) drivers gathered near the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta on Thursday to protest operator policies.

They rejected a 10 percent commission cut imposed by ride-hailing platforms and demanded regulations to better protect their rights.

Carrying flags and banners, drivers from Jakarta and surrounding areas began assembling around 1:15 p.m. local time.

The demonstration did not significantly disrupt traffic on nearby roads. Police allowed vehicles to pass, despite parts of the street being used for motorcycle parking and the rally.
