Jakarta, June 2 -- Chairperson of the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Khoirudin expressed hope that Betawi culture would not only be featured during ceremonial events but also be incorporated into formal education in schools.
"Schools are the agents of social change. They certainly play a decisive role in the continuity of Betawi culture if it is taught to children at school," he said in Jakarta on Monday.
Khoirudin indicated his readiness to engage with the Jakarta Education Office to discuss further integrating Betawi culture into the school curriculum.
