Jakarta, Aug. 31 -- The Jayakarta Regional Military Command deployed a company-level unit to patrol Jakarta on Sunday to prevent violence and looting following recent incidents.
The patrol began at the National Monument in Central Jakarta and continued through areas where demonstrations had taken place, from Semanggi to Senayan and beyond.
The Commander of the Jayakarta Regional Military Command, Major General Deddy Suryadi, affirmed his troops' commitment to ensuring public safety.
"There are several offices, ministries, and public facilities here that are part of our security measures," he said before dispatching the troops.
