Jakarta, July 7 -- Indonesia's Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program had reached nearly 7 million beneficiaries by the first week of July 2025, according to the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).
"This number exceeds the total population of Singapore," said Redy Hendra Gunawan, a special staff member at BGN, on Sunday.
Launched on January 6, the MBG program aims to reach 82 million beneficiaries nationwide.
To support the initiative, 1,873 kitchens - officially known as Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPGs) - are already in operation.
An additional 473 SPPG units are scheduled to open next week, surpassing BGN's July target of 1,994 units, Gunawan added.
