Dhaka, March 29 -- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday called for unity while attending an iftar mahfil organised by his party honouring politicians in the Ladies Club in the capital.

"We are having a very hard time. A fascist government has grabbed state power, violating the voting rights of the people.

It is time to forge strong unity through the anti-democratic government," Mirza Fakhrul said while presiding over the event.

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman joined the event virtually. Notably, a number of Jamaat leaders were present in the iftar mahfil.
