Dhaka, April 27 -- Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has arranged 'artificial rain' to prevent air pollution in Dhaka and keep the city cool amid the ongoing heat wave.

DNCC used two spray cannons to cause the rain.

DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam inaugurated the artificial precipitation programme at the Syed Mahbub Morshed Sarani in the capital on Saturday.

During the programme, the mayor said a severe heat wave has been sweeping across the country, including Dhaka, for about a month. In response to that, Bushra Afrin, Chief Heat Officer of Adrienne Arsht-Rockefeller Foundation Resilience Center, a US-based research institute assigned to DNCC, advised 'artificial rain' to give respite to the citizens from the heat wave.
