New Delhi, May 7 -- Indian IT firm LTIMindtree announced on Tuesday that it has partnered with American technology company IBM to establish a global, joint Generative AI Center of Excellence (CoE) in India. The centre will focus on creating specific solutions to help clients accelerate their generative AI adoption journeys.

The CoE plans to provide a wide range of services, combining LTIMindtree's expertise in data and machine learning model customisation and full-stack engineering with IBM Watson technology, including Watson AI, Watson data, and Watson governance, as well as AI assistants. Located in India, the centre will concentrate on developing solutions to speed up clients' generative AI adoption journeys.

Nachiket Deshpande, COO and Whole-time Director of LTIMindtree commented on the collaboration, stating, "Open innovation is key to progress in the digital era. By partnering with IBM, LTIMindtree aims to advance AI technologies and enable businesses to achieve unprecedented success with governance."

Kate Woolley, General Manager of IBM Ecosystem, added, "IBM Service Partners like LTIMindtree play a crucial role in helping enterprises maximize the benefits of generative AI technology throughout their AI adoption journey. Our collaboration, highlighted by the Center of Excellence, allows our companies to work closely together to apply the latest AI research and innovations to address real-world business challenges."

The Center of Excellence aims to significantly expand the range of generative AI applications for clients' digital initiatives, utilizing the IBM Watson platform and AI assistants, machine learning, speech recognition, natural language processing, and conversational AI to enhance the end-user experience.

During its FY24 Q3 earnings call, LTIMindtree disclosed that it is working with nearly 140 clients in generative AI, although it did not provide specific details.

In February, LTIMindtree became the first Indian Global System Integrator (GSI) to join the IBM Quantum Network. Additionally, the technology consulting and digital solutions company announced on Wednesday that it will collaborate with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, an IBM Quantum Innovation Centre, for joint quantum research and workforce development.
