56 Infantry Division organized a traditional New Year Festival to mark the Sinhala and Tamil New Year on 20 April 2024 at Public Ground Vavuniya with the participation of a large crowd.
The festival featured traditional aesthetic events and various games such as cycle races, marathon races, selection of the 'Avurudu Kumara and Kumari,' tug of war, pillow fighting, kolam rata drawing competition, eye-placing on the elephant, bun eating, coconut-scraping, playing musical chairs, lime balancing race, and many other Sinhala and Tamil traditional games.
