Bhubaneswar, April 29 -- Sambalpur MP Nitesh Ganga Deb today resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on health grounds.

Nitesh, the scion of Bamra royal family, resigned from the primary membership of BJP citing poor health.

Nitesh, however, urged his supporters to support his wife Arundhati Kumari Devi, who is now fighting the Assembly polls on a Biju Janata Dal (BJD) ticket from Deogarh seat.

"I am taking a break from active politics due to my poor health condition. So, I am resigning from the primary membership of BJP. I hope that the people of Deogarh will support my wife Arundhati Kumari Devi in the upcoming polls," said Nitesh in a social media post today.
