New Delhi, Feb. 10 -- In a country where equitable healthcare access is vital, the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) set-ups across the country face a daunting challenge: Staffing shortages and operational hurdles as revealed by a Parliamentary panel in its report which was tabled in Parliament on Thursday.

Led by MP Bhubaneswar Kalita, it has suggested an array of recommendations to improve functioning of the CGHS for better medical facilities to the beneficiaries which include government staff and serving/retired Central Government employees, their dependents, sitting and former Members of Parliament, freedom fighters, and such other beneficiaries as notified by the Government.
