Chandigarh, April 29 -- Aiming at safeguarding the life of fire personnel, the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, (MCC) has procured 28 pyrolene or splash tight suits along with 14 chemical or gas tight suits for the utility of its firefighters to protect them while responding to various biochemical threats. This is the first instance when the emergency response department of Municipal Corporation has procured this kind of equipment to safeguard the life of fire personnel.
The estimated amount for the procurement of the personal protective gear is approximately Rs 51 lakhs, said MCC's spokesperson.
