BHOPAL, Feb. 20 -- Five accused have been nabbed in fraud of Rs 4.63 crore by pledging fake gold in ICICI Bank; a total of 17 persons including 4 bank employees and three jewellers have been booked in the case.

An FIR has been registered in the Crime Branch against 17 accused.

ICICI Bank Bhopal Regional Head Kanchan Rajdev M.P. Zone-1 Bhopal and Area Manager Bhanu Umre complained in Police Station Kolar Road that during the surprise inspection/audit in his branch located at Kolar Road, it has been found that the bank officers/employees and the authorized goldsmiths evaluating the gold in the branch have colluded and cheated bank of Rs 4.5 crores by approving gold loans worth crores by mortgaging fake gold in the bank branch.
