Shillong, April 29 -- The expert committee reviewing Meghalaya's state reservation policy announced plans to hold public hearings in Shillong, the capital city, and all district headquarters.

This decision comes after their second physical meeting with Meghalaya government officials today.

The committee will consider holding additional hearings in other locations based on stakeholder feedback and suggestions.

They will also be issuing a public notice soon, inviting consultations, comments, and suggestions on the current reservation policy.

Formed in September 2023, the committee's mandate is to examine the existing policy and recommend changes if necessary.

This includes extensive consultations with stakeholders across the state.
