Imphal, May 4 -- On the first anniversary of the Manipur mayhem between two communities, a joint team of the central and state forces launched operations at the hotspots of the warring group and recovered a huge cache of weapons.

At Nakhujang hill range of Kangpokpi district, predominantly inhabited by the Kuki tribes, the joint team recovered one carbine machine gun with magazine, two 9mm pistols with magazines, two HE-36 hand grenades, one IED (500gm) and 16 ammunition.

The operations followed at the adjoining Sangaithel village of the Imphal West district mainly occupied by the Meiteis with the recovery of a pistol with an empty magazine, four HE-36 grenades, one 51 mm mortar illumination shell, one 2-inch mortar shell, 60 live ammun...
